Jet ski, PWC or WaveRunner — same thing

"Jet Ski" is originally a Kawasaki brand name that became the popular term for any personal watercraft, much like other genericised trademarks. The technical term is PWC (personal watercraft); Yamaha's version is branded "WaveRunner". On this site we use "jet ski" throughout, the way most people search for it — we always mean the same type of vehicle.

Before you book

Do I need a licence to ride a jet ski?

It depends on the format. On a guided tour, the operator's skipper is responsible for navigation and you don't need your own licence or previous experience. For self-drive rental (riding on your own, without a guide), a boating licence is usually required depending on the jet ski's power — the exact requirement varies by operator.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I need previous experience to go on a jet ski tour?

No. On guided tours you follow the operator's skipper at all times, and they are responsible for navigation. No previous experience or licence is required on your part.

Where do jet ski tours take place in Tenerife?

Mainly in the south of the island, with departures usually from Puerto Colón (Costa Adeje) and other southern areas such as Los Cristianos or Las Américas.

Does Jet Ski Tenerife charge anything to help me book?

No. We're an independent comparison site: you book and pay directly on GetYourGuide, the operator's platform. We don't manage your booking or charge you anything — if we receive a commission, the operator pays it, at no extra cost to you.

Are the prices shown on this page up to date?

Prices and availability are managed by each operator through GetYourGuide and can change. The price shown is indicative and always confirmed at the time of booking.

Can children join a jet ski tour?

It depends on the operator and their minimum age policy, which can vary by tour. We note it on each listing once confirmed.
